Copper futures prices fell 0.65 per cent to Rs 430.65 per kg today as speculators offloaded their positions due to a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in August fell Rs 2.80 or 0.65 per cent to Rs 430.65 per kg with a business turnover of 5,993 lots. It had ended flat at Rs 433.45 per kg in the previous session.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in November lost Rs 2.65 or 0.61 per cent to Rs 436.80 per kg with a trade volume of 371 lots.
Analysts said a weakening trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange as investors were worried over a possible US default, mainly weighed on copper futures prices here.
