Copper futures prices fell marginally by 0.19 per cent today after speculators booked gains even as the metal strengthened at the London Metal Exchange and Shanghai.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April eased by 85 paise or 0.19 per cent to Rs 442.30 per kg with a business volume of 3,280 lots. It had ended 0.72 per cent higher at Rs 443.15 per kg in the previous session.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in June shed 80 paise or 0.18 per cent to Rs 448.45 per kg with a trade volume of 241 lots.

Market analysts said emergence of profit-booking by speculators mainly pulled down copper futures prices here but a firm trend at the London Metal Exchange and Shanghai due to weakening of dollar, restricted the losses.
