Crude oil prices rose by Rs 24 to Rs 4,558 per barrel at the futures trade today, tracking a firming trend in the overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in June rose by Rs 24 or 0.53 per cent to Rs 4,558 per barrel with a business turnover of 7,676 lots. Likewise, the oil for delivery in July edged up by Rs 23 or 0.50 per cent to Rs 4,610 per barrel with a business volume of 314 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in crude oil futures prices to a firming global trend as a weaker dollar spurred investor interest in dollar-priced commodities including crude.

Meanwhile, crude for July delivery rose by 86 cents to $101.45 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
