Freight charges for some destinations improved by Rs 1,000 per 10 tonne at the local truck transport market today, supported by busy cargo movement against tight availability of trucks.

Transporters said increased cargo movement against shortage of trucks due to heavy rains in some parts of the country, attributed to the rise in freight rates.

Delhi to Kolkata and Mumbai freight rates went up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 25,000 and Rs 22,500, while rates for Patna and Kanpur moved up by Rs 1000 each to Rs22,000 and Rs 14,000, respectively.

Following are the rates in Rs per load of 10 tonne: Ahmedabad 15,000, Hyderabad 37,000, Mumbai 22,500, Vijayawada 39,000, Baroda 17,000, Chennai 50,000, Pune 24,500, Bangalore 54,000, Surat 19,000, Mysore 55,000, Kanpur 14,000, Puducherry 52,000, Kolkata 25,000, Coimbatore 56,000, Ludhiana 13,000, Kochi 60,000, Chandigarh 10,500, Thiruvananthapuram 66,000, Jaipur 11,000, Goa 39,000, Indore 16,000, Gwalior 10,000, Patna 22,000 and Guwahati 41,000.
