Cotton prices were steady on the back of fresh enquiries at the lower level. Moreover, absence of quality cotton arrivals held the downtrend in Gujarat. Kapas or raw cotton price was unchanged.
Gujarat Sankar-6 best quality cotton was traded at ₹33,800-34,000 per candy of 356 kg, average grade cotton ₹32,000 and lower grade ₹30,000. About 7,000 bales (of 170 kg) of cotton arrived in Gujarat, out of these 3,000 bales were new.
Around 15,000 bales cotton arrived in India. Price of new cotton was at ₹33,500-700. Kapas was ₹800-850 for a maund of 20 kg and gin delivery kapas was at ₹830-860.
