Silver prices recovered sharply to a new high on the bullion market on Saturday on hectic speculative buying amid industrial demand, despite subdued global trend.
The yellow metal too, rebounded owing to heavy marriage seasonal offtake coupled with good investment buying.
Silver ready (.999 fineness) jumped by Rs 730 a kg to end at Rs 50,610.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) rose by 100 for 10 gm and closed at Rs 20,845. Pure gold (99.9 purity) also gained Rs 100 and finished at Rs 20,945 for 10 gm.
Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 50,875; retail silver: Rs 54.45; standard gold: Rs 20,915; retail ornament gold (22 carat a gm): Rs 1,945.
Kolkata: Silver ready: Rs 50,300; gold ready: Rs 21.150.
