Groundnut and cotton oils remained unchanged even as retail demand was restricted in the last two days. Traders said high prices have checked retail demand.
In Rajkot and Saurashtra, groundnut oil was traded at Rs 1,700-1,705 for 15-kg new tin, at Rs 1,680-1,685 for a 15-kg labelled tin and at Rs 1,525-1,526 for a 15-kg telia tin. Loose groundnut oil was unchanged at Rs 890-895 for 10 kg. Forty to 50 tonnes of groundnut oil were traded.
Similarly, cotton oil remained unchanged at Rs 1,095-1,105 for a 15-kg new tin and at Rs 1,010-1,015 for a 15-litre tin. Cotton (wash) sold at Rs 642-645 for 10 kg and 120-150 tonnes of the oil were traded.
Small groundnut was traded at Rs 648-712 for 20 kg at the agricultural produce marketing committee (APMC) in Rajkot while bold groundnut sold at Rs 637-720 for 20 kg. Groundnut quoted at Rs 550-835 for 20 kg at APMC in Junagadh.
Millers said new arrivals of groundnut and lower stockist and retail demand would pull down groundnut oil prices soon.
