Jeera futures prices fell by Rs 77 to Rs 14,962 a quintal on Monday, as speculators booked profits amid sluggish export demand.
However, depleting stocks and lower supplies in the spot market, limited the losses. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in March fell by Rs 77 or 0.51 per cent to Rs 14,962 a quintal, with an open interest of 7,689 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in January declined by Rs 39 or 0.27 per cent to Rs 14,300 a quintal, clocked a business turnover of 3,651 lots.
Market analysts said besides profit booking by speculators after gains in the previous session and sluggish export demand also kept pressure on futures prices here.
