In range-bound movements, lead prices moved up by 0.48 per cent to Rs 105.25 a kg in futures trading today as traders built up fresh positions largely on pick-up in domestic demand and a firming trend in base metals overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in May moved up by 50 paise or 0.48 per cent to Rs 105.25 a kg, with a business turnover of 1,031 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in June edged up by 45 paise or 0.47 per cent to Rs 105.70 a kg with a business volume of 200 lots.
Market analysts said besides a firming trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME), increased demand from battery makers pushed prices up.
