Mentha oil prices moved up by Rs 4.80 to Rs 870 per kg in futures trade today mostly supported by a firming trend at the spot markets on pick up in demand from pharmaceutical units.
Restricted arrivals from producing regions further fuelled the uptrend. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June rose by Rs 4.80 or 0.55 per cent to Rs 870 per kg with a business turnover of 160 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in May contract traded marginally higher by 20 paise or 0.02 per cent to Rs 872 per kg in seven lots.
Analysts said a firming trend at the physical markets on the back of pick up in demand from pharmaceutical units against lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil futures prices.
