Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 13.80 to Rs 1,151.80 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators indulged in booking profits, driven by a sluggish demand in the spot market.
Adequate stocks following increased arrivals from the producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in March fell by Rs 13.80 or 1.18 per cent to Rs 1,151.80 per kg in single lot. Similarly, April contract lost Rs 3.70 or 0.35 per cent to Rs 1,167 per kg in a single lot.
Traders attributed the fall in mentha oil futures prices to profit-booking by speculators and sluggish demand in the spot market.
