Mentha oil prices moved up by Rs 8.60 to Rs 1,000 per kg at the futures trade today as traders created fresh positions driven by pick-up in demand at the spot markets. Also, restricted arrivals in the physical market influenced mentha oil futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May gained by Rs 8.60 or 0.86 per cent to Rs 1,000 per kg with a trading volume of 42 lots. April contract edged up by Rs 5.50 or 0.52 per cent to Rs 1,053.50 per kg with a business turnover of 235 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in June rose Rs 1.40 or 0.15 per cent to Rs 882.20 per kg with a business turnover of 35 lots.
Market analysts said fresh buying by traders following pick-up in spot demand along with lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up prices at the futures trade.
