Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 12.40 to Rs 1,015.10 a kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking driven by subdued demand in the spot market.
Increased arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May declined by Rs 12.40 or 1.20 per cent to Rs 1,015.10 a kg, with a business volume of 66 lots.
Similarly, oil prices for delivery in April eased by Rs 7.90 or 0.74 per cent to Rs 1,057.90 a kg, with a business turnover of 107 lots.
Mentha oil futures prices for delivery in March fell by Rs 6.40 or 0.55 per cent to Rs 1,140.10 a kg, with an open interest of 506 lots.
Traders attributed the fall in mentha oil futures prices to profit booking by speculators and a weak trend at the spot market on subdued demand.
