Wheat market witnessed a mixed trend. Amid tepid trading, prices of dara variety remained unchanged while desi wheat continued to witness a downtrend on Tuesday.

With not much trading in the market, the Dara variety continued to rule flat and quoted at Rs 1,160-1,165 a quintal. The variety has been ruling flat since June 28. Around 200 quintals of dara variety arrived from Uttar Pradesh and stocks were directly offloaded at the mills. Mill delivery was quoted at Rs 1, 160 while it traded at Rs1, 165 a quintal in the retail market.

Low arrivals are keeping the prices of dara variety firm, said Mr Subhash Chander, a wheat trader.

In the case of desi wheat, traders are not placing fresh orders as demand is very low and they are clearing the old stocks at present, he added.

Despite lack of fresh arrivals, desi wheat dropped further by Rs 10-25 a quintal.

Tohfa variety dropped further by Rs 20 and quoted at 2,200 a quintal. Maruti dropped by Rs 10 and ruled at Rs 1, 815, Lal Quila dropped by Rs 25 and quoted at Rs 1,915, while A-1 variety decreased by Rs 10 and ended at Rs 2 ,060 a quintal.
