Pepper prices continued to surge on tight availability amid strong domestic demand. Spot prices shot up by ₹1,300 a quintal on Wednesday. Buyers were keen on MG 1 at ₹725 a kg. Industry dealers and inter-State dealers were covering from the High Ranges at ₹710 a kg, while Wayanad dealers are claimed to have delivered pepper at Erode at ₹725. Local prices in Karnataka also increased to ₹695. On the terminal market, five tonnes of high range pepper arrived and that were traded. Spot prices were at ₹67,300 (ungarbled) and ₹70,300 (garbled). Export prices were at $12,050 a tonne cf for Europe and $12,300 for the US.
