Pepper prices on the spot continued to stay hot on Wednesday on good domestic demand amid tight supply. The sellers are claimed to be holding back hoping the prices would move up further. Buyers, especially from the consuming markets and end users, were trying to cover for their winter requirements, market sources told Business Line. The North-East monsoon in the growing regions is also restricting the supply, they claimed. On the spot, prices moved up further by ₹300 a quintal to ₹68,000 (ungarbled) and ₹71,000 (garbled) a quintal. Export prices were at around $12,000 a tonne cf for Europe and around $12,250 for the US.
