Mentha oil turned weak and fell by Rs 3 to Rs 915 per kg at the futures trading today as speculators indulged in profit-booking, driven by a subdued spot demand from pharmaceutical units.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June weakened by Rs 3 or 0.33 per cent to Rs 915 per kg with an open interest of one lot. Similarly, the oil for delivery in April shed Rs 1.20 or 0.11 per cent to Rs 1,048 per kg with a business turnover of one lot.
Traders said the fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators and a weak trend at the spot market on subdued demand from pharmaceutical units.
