Masoor ruled high on increased demand and queries from millers and traders. Chana also gained Rs 30-40, because of a rise in chana futures which closed higher with traders building stocks. Spot chana quoted high at Rs 2,410-2,420 a quintal as chana futures gained on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, though bulk trading was done at Rs 2,400-2,410 a quintal.

On Monday, chana been quoted at Rs 2,380-2,390 a quintal with restricted demand. Six thousand bags of chana arrived in the Indore mandis . Desi chana in the Indore mandis quoted at Rs 2,350-2,360 a quintal, while chana (mausmi) quoted at Rs 2,627 a quintal.

Rise in chana also helped chana dal gain Rs 25 with chana dal (bold) quoting Rs 3,050-3,075 a quintal, chana dal (medium) Rs 2,950-3,000 and chana dal (average) Rs 2,850-2,900 a quintal.

Rise in demand and queries from millers and traders also perked up masoor by Rs 75-100, with masoor (bold) in the spot quoting Rs 3,3003,325 and masoor (medium) Rs 2,950-3,000. Local on Tuesday witnessed arrivals of about 800-1,000 bags of new masoor.

Arrivals of masoor will increase in the coming days. With rise in masoor, its dal also witnessed a gain with masoor dal (bold) quoting Rs 3,850-3,900, masoor dal (medium) Rs 3,725-3,750 and masoor dal (average) Rs 3,600-3,625 a quintal. According to a trader, a positive correction in masoor was bound to happen, as its prices had declined sharply in the market on the back of weak demand.

Tur also gained Rs 25 on improved queries, though demand in tur continues to remain sluggish. In the spot, tur (Nimari) quoted Rs 3,400-3,500 a quintal, tur (red) Rs 3,700 and tur (white) Rs 3,900 a quintal. According to Mr Bimal Jain, a trader, demand for tur is weak.

There have been complaints of poor quality. Besides, speculators are also adding to the bearish sentiment, and produce from mills is being sold in disparity. On the other hand, tur dal ruled steady with tur dal (marka) in the spot quoting Rs 6,200-6,250 a quintal, tur dal (full) Rs 5,700-5,800 a quintal and tur dal (sawa no.) Rs 5,200-5,300 a quintal.

Moong and urad continued to remain sluggish on depleting demand and weak arrivals. In the spot, moong (best quality) quoted Rs 4,800 and moong (medium) Rs 4,000 a quintal. Moong dal also remained steady with moong mongar quoting Rs 6,500-6,800 a quintal, moong dal (bold) Rs 6,000 and moong dal (chilka) Rs 5,400-5,500 a quintal.

Urad (best quality) ruled at Rs 3,900 and urad (medium) quoted Rs 3,400-3500 a quintal. Urad dal also remained steady with urad mongar quoting Rs 6,000-6,700 and urad dal (chilka) Rs 4,9005,000 a quintal. Arrivals of Alsi and Arandi in Indore has also gained momentum in Indore mandis . In the spot, Alsi quoted Rs 2,925 a quintal and Arandi Rs 4,000 a quintal.
