Wheat procurement in Punjab has touched the mark of 71.31 lakh mt, which is still 25 per cent lower than the procurement in the corresponding period of the last year.

Government agencies and private millers procured 71.31 lakh mt of wheat as against lifting of 94.91 lakh mt last year.

Out of the total procurement, State-owned agencies procured 71.19 lakh mt of wheat, constituting 99.08 per cent of the total buying, whereas private traders bought 12,204 mt.

The spokesperson said Sangrur with 8.55 lakh mt of procurement was leading in procurement operations, whereas district Ferozepur stood second with lifting of 7.93 lakh mt.
