Dara wheat prices continued to tumble on account of low buying in the market. Prices of Dara variety dropped by Rs 20-25 a quintal while prices of desi wheat ruled with marginal changes, on Tuesday.

Mr Subhash Chander, a wheat trader, told Business Line that farmers have started harvesting in few regions of the State. They are doing the harvesting work manually at present and may use machines in the second week of the April, he added.

As this is the end of the financial year, there are no new orders, said Mr Subhash. With not much demand for flour and wheat, there were no wheat arrivals from Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.

The Dara variety ruled at Rs 1,170-1,175 a quintal against last weekend levels of around Rs 1,200 a quintal. For the finer quality, it was around Rs 1,185 a quintal. Mill delivery was at around Rs 1,175-1,780 while it traded at Rs 1,185-1,188 a quintal in the retail market.
