The rice market managed to maintain their previous quoted levels on Monday.

With trading being lukewarm, prices of aromatic and non-basmati rice ruled flat, said Mr Praveen Kumar, a rice miller. Market sentiment is weak, and traders are not interested in bulk buying as demand is low, he added.

Pusa-1121 (steam) quoted at Rs 5,000-5,100 a quintal, Pusa-1121 (sela) at Rs 4,100-4,200 and Pusa-1121 (raw) at Rs 5,050 a quintal.

Duplicate basmati quoted at Rs 3,650-3,800 a quintal. Pure basmati (raw) ruled around Rs 6,550 a quintal.

Among brokens of Pusa-1121, Tibar was quoted at Rs 3,100-3,400, Dubar at Rs 2,400-2,650 and Mongra was at Rs 1,900-2,180.

Sharbati (steam) quoted at Rs 3,100-3,200 while Sharbati (Sela) ruled at Rs 2,900-3,000 a quintal.

PR-11 (sela) ruled at Rs 2,000-2,150 while PR-11(raw) quoted at Rs 1,900-2,050 a quintal.

Permal (sela) ruled at Rs 1,750-1,975 a quintal while Permal (raw) traded at Rs 1,900-2,100 a quintal.

For brokens of the Sharbati variety, Tibar was quoted at Rs 2,350-2,520, Dubar was at 2,100-2,230 and Mongra ruled around Rs 1,800 a quintal.

Summer paddy

Sowing of summer paddy will be on time as the meteorological department expects monsoon to arrive early. Earlier, due to some uncertainty created by La Nina, it was expected that monsoon may not come on time, delaying the sowing of summer paddy and affecting prices in the short term.
