Silver prices surged by Rs 714 to Rs 53,825 a kg in futures trading today buoyed by a firming trend in Asian region.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May contract rose by Rs 714 or 1.34 per cent to Rs 53,825 a kg, with a business volume of five lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in July shot up by Rs 699 or 1.29 per cent to Rs 54,811 a kg, with an open interest of two lots. Traders said a firming trend in Asian region mainly pushed up the white metal’s futures prices. Meanwhile, silver jumped two per cent to $35.95 an ounce in the Asian region.
