Prices of aromatic varieties wrong dropped by Rs 60-100 a quintal on Monday. Sluggish domestic demand pulled prices down, while non-basmati varieties managed to rule at previous levels, said Mr Amit Chandna, Proprietor of Hanuman Rice Trading Company.

“It's not a big fall and there is no need to worry as the future prospect is very good. Market may rule around current levels and it's unlikely to see any major alteration in this week,” he said.

Price of Pusa-1121 steam dropped by Rs 100 to Rs 5,300-5,500 a quintal, Pusa-1121 sela quoted at Rs 4,300-4,470 and Pusa-1121 around Rs 5,300. Basmati sela quoted at Rs 6,200-6,430 and basmati raw at Rs 7,300-7,450. Duplicate Basmati ruled around Rs 4,030 a quintal. The prices of brokens of 1121 variety were: Tibar was quoted at Rs 3,000-3,400, Dubar at Rs 2,200-2,500 and Mongra at Rs 1,800-2,000.

Prices of non-basmati ruled almost unchanged. Sharbati sela sold at around Rs 2,750-2,770 and Sharbati steam around Rs 3,000-3,230 a quintal. Permal sela sold at Rs 1,900-2,210, while Permal steam sold at Rs 2,100-2,270 a quintal. For the brokens of Sharbati variety, Tibar quoted at Rs 2,500, Dubar at Rs 2,050 and Mongra Rs 1,450.

Paddy Trading

Around 2,000 bags of PR sold at Rs 1,000 a quintal. Around 1,000 bags of Pusa (duplicate basmati) quoted at Rs 2,000-2,050, around 5,000 bags of Pusa-1121 at Rs 2,000-2,300 and about 1,000 bags of pure basmati at Rs 2,200-2,550 a quintal.
