Turmeric prices moved up by Rs 256 to Rs 8,960 per quintal at the futures trading today on fresh buying by traders following pick-up in spot market demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in May moved up by Rs 256 or 2.94 per cent to Rs 8,960 per quintal with an open interest of 12,715 lots.
Likewise, April contract gained Rs 188 or 1.99 per cent to Rs 9,630 per quintal with an open interest of 2,745 lots.
Traders attributed the rise in turmeric futures prices to fresh buying by speculators on pick-up in spot market demand.
