Arrival of new wheat remained sluggish at the Karnal grain market terminal at just around 150 tonnes and ruled at Rs 1,170/quintal, including the bonus of Rs 50.

Out of the total arrival, around 65 per cent were from Uttar Pradesh. Prices of old dara ruled steady amid tepid selling. Mill delivery of the old wheat was at Rs 1,210/quintal, while it traded at Rs 1,220 at the retail market.

Arrivals will remain sluggish at the Karnal grain market, as farmers approach their nearest procurement centres, said Mr Tara Chand Sharma, a wheat trader.

On the other hand, in desi wheat varieties, prices ruled firm after witnessing a good uptrend and demand at the beginning of the week. Around 170 tonnes of different varieties of desi wheat arrived from Madhya Pradesh. Tohfa variety ruled at 2,230-2,250/quintal, Bhojan King was quoted at Rs2,205, Dabang at Rs 2,000-2,010, Namastey India at Rs 2,000, Kamal Brand at Rs 2,040-2,050, while the Nokia variety traded at 2,040/quintal.

Flour Prices

Following equal demand and supply, flour prices ruled flat and quoted at Rs 1,190-1,200 for a 90 kg bag. Branded flour such as Om Bhog and Lal Quila were quoted at Rs 140 and 145 for a 10kg bag, respectively. Chokar prices dropped marginally by Rs 5 and was ruling at Rs 560-565 for a 49-kg bag.
