Weak conditions prevailed at the wholesale grains market during the week as wheat, rice basmati and other commodities traded lower due to reduced offtake.

Traders said reduced offtake by flour mills and stockists against adequate stocks position mainly led to a fall in wheat dara and rice basmati prices.

Wheat dara (for mills) fell Rs 25 to Rs 1,140-1,145, while atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by the same margin to Rs 1,150-1,155 per 90 kg.

Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also weakened to Rs 630-650, Rs 730-740 and Rs 760-775 a quintal respectively in line with weakening trend in wheat prices.

In the rice section, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety declined by Rs 100 and Rs 50 to Rs 5,100-5,200 and Rs 4,050-4,700 per quintal respectively.

Permal raw and IR-8 shed Rs 50 each to Rs 1,825-1,875 and Rs 1,750-1,800 and permal wand eased to Rs 1,925-1,975 against last close of Rs 2,000-2,100 respectively.

Other bold grains such as bajra and maize declined by Rs 40 and Rs 60 to Rs 820-830 and Rs 1,140-1,150 while jowar yellow and white eased to Rs 875-955 and Rs 1,700-1,825 from previous level of Rs 920-1,000 and Rs 1,750-1,875 per quintal respectively.
