With not much trading taking place in the market, prices of dara wheat dropped by Rs 10 and ruled at Rs 1,185 a quintal. Mill delivery was around Rs 1,190 a quintal, while it traded at Rs 1,200 in the retail market, on Thursday.
Wheat arrivals have dropped and just around 500 tonnes of dara wheat arrived from Uttar Pradesh.
Despite low arrivals from Uttar Pradesh, wheat prices dropped on account of low buying in the market, said Mr Tara Chand Sharma, a wheat trader. The quality of wheat was not so good and as a result there was not much buying, he said.
On the other hand, in desi wheat, after witnessing a good uptrend at the beginning of this week, prices of desi wheat were ruled with marginal variations.
Around 140 tonnes of different varieties of desi wheat arrived from Madhya Pradesh. Tohfa variety increased by Rs 10 and ruled at Rs 2,210 a quintal, Bhojan King rose by Rs 5 and quoted at Rs 2,155, Lal Quila was at Rs 2,050, Dabang ruled at Rs 2,000, Parivar increased by Rs 5 and ruled at Rs 2,055, while Nokia variety remained unchanged and traded at Rs 2,050 a quintal.
Flour Prices
Following a drop in wheat, flour prices dropped marginally by Rs 5 and quoted at Rs 1,195 for a 90-kg bag. Chokar prices ruled flat and quoted at Rs 570 for a 49-kg bag.
