About 85 per cent of the offer at Sale No: 13 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold with the average price dropping to ₹101.65 a kg from last week’s ₹101.65.
The Coonoor-based Homedale Tea Factory topped the entire auctions when its Red Dust grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, was bought by GLT Enterprises for ₹261 a kg. This was the only CTC tea which entered the high-price bracket of ₹200 a kg. It beat the price of even the export-oriented orthodox teas from corporate sector.
Among orthodox teas, Kairbetta topped at ₹256 a kg followed by Chamraj ₹242, Corsley ₹216, Havukal ₹210 and Mailoor ₹205.
