About 90 per cent of the 14.59 lakh kg catalogued for Sale No: 40 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold with the average price dropping to ₹94.85 a kg from previous week’s ₹95.67. Homedale Estate’s Broken Pekoe tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire CTC market when PS Tea Industries bought it for ₹251 a kg.
In the CTC Dust tea auctions, Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹240 a kg. Darmona Estate followed at₹220.
Among orthodox teas, Kodanad topped at₹263 a kg followed by Chamraj at ₹249, Kairbetta at₹226 and Havukal ₹213.
