About 91 per cent of the offer at Sale No: 17 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold despite the average price rising to ₹ 100.77 a kg from the previous week’s ₹99.97 due to increased demand from upcountry buyers.
Homedale Red Dust grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the entire CTC market when Pooja Trading Co bought it for ₹227 a kg. Homedale Super Red Dust grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed at ₹226.
In the CTC Leaf auctions, Homedale tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹222. No other CTC tea got above ₹200 a kg.
Among the orthodox teas, Chamraj topped at ₹248 a kg followed by Kodanad ₹231, Kairbetta ₹220 and Havukal ₹212.
