A sharp rise in arrivals pulled down the small cardamom prices at auctions held in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The prices after having crossed ₹1,200 a kg a week ago has dropped by around ₹200, of late, and remained below ₹1,100/kg. At the Monday’s auction held in Bodinayakannur, 53 tonnes arrived and the entire quantity was traded. The maximum price was at ₹1,393/kg. The auction average dropped to ₹1,097.38 a kg from last week’s average of ₹1,156.30. Exporters have bought an estimated 120 tonnes last week. Total arrivals during the current season were at 4,172 tonnes and sales were at 4,064 tonnes. Good bulk was fetching ₹1,050-1,150.
