Base metal prices rose by Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous metals market on Monday largely on firming global trend.

Trading sentiment turned better as copper advanced in overseas markets on fresh developments in Greek after opinion polls showed voters backed parties that support the European Union’s bailout, easing concerns the country will exit the currency bloc and falling stockpiles in China.

Meanwhile, copper for the three-month delivery rose by 1.5 per cent to $7,753.75 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

Market analysts attributed the rise in base metals prices to a firming global trend and pick-up in industrial demand.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap, zinc ingot and nickel (4x4) were up by Rs 2 each to to Rs 402, Rs 114-120 and Rs 1,062-1,065 per kg, respectively.

Lead ingot and lead imported were also traded higher by the same margin to Rs 136 and Rs 134 per kg, respectively.

Zinc ingot 114-120, nickel plate (4x4) 1,062-1,065, gun metal scrap 226, bell metal scrap 228, copper mixed scrap 402, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 136, lead imported 134, aluminium ingots 126, sheet cutting 128, aluminium wire scrap 132 and aluminium utensils scrap 127.
