Sugar prices rose by ₹18-20 a quintal at Vashi market tracking firm mill tender rates amid worry about lower output this year. Naka and mill prices were up ₹15-20.
Arrivals to the Vashi market were at 61-62 truck loads and local dispatches were at same level. On Saturday evening, about 19-20 mills offered tenders and sold about 64,000-65,000 bags at ₹2,570-2,650 (2,550-2,630) for S-grade and ₹2,650-2,750 (2,630-2,730) for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,662-2,790 (2,652-2,781) and M-grade ₹2,782-2,925 (2,762-2,922). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,640-2,720 (2,610-2,700) and M-grade ₹2,740-2,820 (2,710-2,800).
