Cardamom prices fell by Rs 25.90 to Rs 1,173 a kg in futures trade today on profit—booking amid sluggish demand at the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June slipped by Rs 25.90, or 2.16 per cent, to Rs 1,173 a kg, with an open interest of a single lot.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in March declined by Rs 19.80 or 1.79 per cent to Rs 1,088 a kg, with a business turnover of just one lot.
Market analysts said profit-booking by speculators at existing higher levels along with fall in spot demand weighed on the prices at futures trade.
Adequate stock in the physical markets following increased arrivals from the southern producing region also put pressure on prices, they added.
