Cardamom prices rose by Rs 25.30 to Rs 1,311.90 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions on increased demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May rose by Rs 25.30 or 1.97 per cent to Rs 1,311.90 per kg with a business volume of a single lot. Likewise, March contract moved up by Rs 14.30 or 1.18 per cent to Rs 1,231.10 per kg with a business volume of one lot.
Market analysts attributed the rise in cardamom futures prices to a strong demand at the spot market, powered by the ongoing marriage season. Lower arrivals from the southern producing region influenced the trading sentiment, they said.
