Cardamom prices moved up by Rs 35.30 or 3 per cent to Rs 1,210.40 a kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by rising spot demand.
Less arrivals from southern producing regions further fuelled the uptrend in prices. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for April contract moved up by Rs 35.30 or 3 per cent to Rs 1,210.40 a kg, with a business turnover of 109 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in March rose by Rs 34.30 or 3 per cent to Rs 1,177.30 a kg, with a business volume of 134 lots.
Traders said rising demand in the spot market driven by the ongoing marriage season mainly supported the rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
They added restricted arrivals from southern region too, supported the uptrend in prices.
