Cardamom prices rose by Rs 2.60 to Rs 862.90 per kg in futures trade today on fall in supplies against increased buying by traders on rising spot demand.
Restricted arrivals from southern producing regions also supported the uptrend.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for August delivery rose by Rs 2.60 or 0.30 per cent to Rs 862.90 per kg, with a business volume of 135 lots.
The spice for delivery in July also traded Rs 2.30 or 0.28 per cent higher at Rs 812 per kg, with a trading volume of 331 lots.
Similarly, cardamom prices for delivery in September surged by Rs 1.70 or 0.19 per cent to Rs 892 per kg, with an open interest of 42 lots.
Traders said rising demand in spot market amid slow down in arrivals from southern producing regions mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures market.
