Cardamom prices rose by 1.08 per cent to Rs 1,115 a kg in futures trade today, buoyed by pick-up in spot demand amid low stocks due to restricted arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May gained Rs 11.90 or 1.08 per cent to Rs 1,115 a kg, with a business volume of 32 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in April surged by Rs 11.10 or 1.03 per cent to Rs 1,089 a kg, with an open interest of 87 lots.

Cardamom futures prices for delivery in June rose by Rs 10.90 or 0.98 per cent to Rs 1,121.90 a kg, with a business turnover of seven lots.

Traders said pick up in spot demand in the domestic markets mainly led to the rise in prices at futures trade.
