Castor futures witnessed a mixed trend on Wednesday. There were no big deals because of the cricket match between India and Pakistan.
At Rajkot Commodity Exchange, castor seed June contract gained Rs 11 from Rs 5,043 to Rs 5,054 a quintal. At Ahmedabad Commodity Exchange, castor April contract decreased Rs 8.50 to Rs 5,045 from Rs 5,053.50 and May contract increased Rs 28 to Rs 5,041.50.
There were no arrivals as spot markets remain closed for March ending.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castor seed May contract were down by Rs 6.50, or 0.13 per cent, to Rs 5,030 a quintal, with an open interest of 4,550 lots. June contract prices shot up by Rs 94, or 1.87 per cent, to Rs 5,125 a quintal, clocking an open interest of 1,400 lots.
A Rajkot-based trader said, “In the coming days, castor prices may increase on expected export demand.”
