Castor seed prices rose by ₹ 28 to ₹ 5,840 per quintal in futures trade on Monday as speculators created fresh positions amid strong demand in domestic market.
Marketmen said, positive leads from the spot market on pick-up in demand from consuming industries mainly supported the prices here.
On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castor seed delivery for July contracts rose by ₹ 28, or 0.48 per cent, to ₹ 5,840 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 8,140 lots.
Similarly, the delivery for June contracts gained ₹ 26, or 0.45 per cent, to ₹ 5,754 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 2,16,790 lots.
