Increasing arrival and moderate demand remained castor seed price almost unchanged at both physical and futures market. Trader said that demand was moderate as buyers waiting for some fall in prices. Arrival has increased since last one week as new crop has begun to arrive in the market. About 40,000-42,000 bags of 75 kg each arrived in Gujarat and price was stood at ₹725-740 per 20 kg. At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange (NCDEX) castor March contract was stood at ₹3,946 per quintal, with an open interest of 66,430 lots. NCDEX April contract traded at ₹4,010 per quintal with an open interest of 14,820 lots. The Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) has forecasted castor seed production to fall by 25 per cent, from 14.3 lakh tonnes in 2015-16 to 10.6 lakh tonnes in 2016-17. According to an SEA, the decline in output will largely be due to lower sowing.
