The rising trend witnessed in the price at the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association in the last few weeks continued with the average price at Sale No: 23 rising to ₹99.44 a kg from previous week’s ₹98.39.
This was the highest price in the last three months. Darmona Tea Industry created a new record with five of its teas topping the auction. Its Super Red Dust (SRD) topped the entire CTC auction fetching ₹181 a kg, closely followed at ₹180 by its another invoice of SRD and Super Fine Dust. In the leaf auction, Darmona’s Broken Orange Pekoe and Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings topped each fetching ₹168. In the orthodox market, Kodanad topped at ₹253 a kg followed by Chamraj ₹231, Havukal ₹224 and Karibetta ₹223.
