Cotton prices moved down as foreign market performed in the negative. Moreover, slow demand from domestic mills also supported the price to go down on Friday. Traders said that prices of the fibre dropped sharply on Thursday which impacted the domestic market.
Gujarat Sankar-6 was down by ₹200 to ₹33,500-800 per candy of 356 kg. About 40,000 bales (of 170 kg each) arrived in Gujarat and 1.30 lakh bales arrived in India.
Kapas or raw cotton was traded unchanged on normal ginning demand. Kapas was quoted at ₹925-960 per 20 kg in Saurashtra region. Gin delivery kapas was at ₹960-975. Cottonseed was slightly down by ₹5 to ₹930-960.
