Tracking a weak global trend where oil fell to almost two-week low, crude oil prices fell by Rs 46 to Rs 5,001 a barrel in futures trade here today on speculators reducing their positions.
Trading sentiments turned weak as oil dropped the most in two weeks in New York by losing $1.72 to $112.21 a barrel.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in May declined by Rs 46 or 0.91 per cent to Rs 5,001 a barrel, with a business turnover of 40 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in June lost Rs 39 or 0.77 per cent to Rs 5,059 a barrel, with an open interest of three lots.
