Crude oil jumped 0.61 per cent to Rs 4,141 per barrel at the futures market as speculators widened their bets, taking positive leads from global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in April rose Rs 25 or 0.61 per cent to Rs 4,141 per barrel in a business turnover of 2,353 lots. Likewise, the oil for delivery in far-month May was trading higher by Rs 22 or 0.53 per cent at Rs 4,148 per barrel in 154 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by speculators on the back of a firm global trend influenced crude futures at the domestic market. Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) gained 37 cents or 0.58 per cent to $63.79, while Brent crude rose 33 cents or 0.48 per cent to $68.98 per barrel.
