“Just a week more for the Deepavali, the demand for the hybrid turmeric has increased . The Salem Hybrid was sold up to ₹9,700 a quintal of finger turmeric and ₹8,200 to ₹8,500 a quintal of local hybrid finger variety. Till Wednesday the local traders will dispatch the turmeric to North India for the Deepavali sale there and after that the traders will purchase little quantity to stock them”, said R KV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
The Root variety was increased by ₹100 a quintal in all the markets due to arrival of good quality turmeric. were sold. At the Regulated Market Committee the finger turmeric was sold at ₹7697 to ₹8,913 a quintal, root variety was sold at ₹7,473 to ₹8,555 a quintal. Of the arrival of 1407 bags 1137 bags were sold. .
