Spot prices of turmeric increased at Erode markets on quality arrivals. “ Traders expected good arrival with quality turmeric, but only 800 bags of medium variety arrived for sale. Most of the traders purchased the finger variety turmeric by quoting higher price and 75 per cent of the arrived turmeric was sold,” said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. E-tender, e-trading and e-payment has been implemented in all the four markets. The finger variety increased by ₹200-300 a quintal and the root variety by ₹200. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,577-8,750 a quintal; the root variety at ₹5,211-7,811. Of the arrival of 429 bags, 280 were sold.
