Spot pepper prices continued to fall on Wednesday on availability of cheap pepper. In the North Indian markets imported pepper 500 GL traded at ₹375 a kg and 525-535 GL at ₹425 plus GST. Trade sources told BusinessLine that Vietnam pepper imported via Sri Lanka to Bengaluru ICD was being traded as Karnataka pepper at ₹375 a kg by Chikamagaluru dealers. Meanwhile, Gonnikuppa farmers in Karnataka were reportedly ready to make forward sales of new crop at ₹375 a kg.
Spot prices fell by ₹300 a quintal to ₹43,600 (ungarbled) and ₹45,600 (garbled).
Export prices were at $7,350 a tonne c&f for Europe and $7,600 c&f for the US.
