Easier trend continued in spot pepper on Friday following slack demand. Low bulk density cheap material is being traded.
Six tonnes of pepper from Pulpally and Bathery in Wayanad and the high ranges were traded at ₹685 and ₹690 a kg respectively.
Primary market dealers who have turned interstate dealers were mixing pepper from different regions and offering, trade sources told BusinessLine .
Spot pepper dropped further by ₹100 a quintal to ₹68,200 (ungarbled) and ₹71,200 (garbled) a quintal.
October, November and December contracts on the IPSTA, however, remained unchanged at ₹72,000, ₹66,000 and ₹63,000 a quintal.
Export prices were at $11,100 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,350 for the US.
Meanwhile, Brazil has reportedly reduced its price to $7,300 a tonne for Asta grade. Vietnam was now offering ASTA grade at $7,000.
