Prices of turmeric, especially the number eight variety, have decreased by Rs 300 per quintal at the turmeric market here today.
Sales was conducted in four places, where totally 8,800 bags arrived and only 4,600 bags were sold. The number eight variety fetched Rs 11,380 per quintal, which is about Rs 300 per quintal less than last week’s price.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, finger variety was sold at Rs 8,016-11,201 per quintal and root variety Rs 7,819-10,810 per quintal. The finger variety fell by Rs 250 per quintal.
Salem crop: Finger variety Rs 12,000 to Rs 13,071 and root variety Rs 10,719 to Rs 11,400 per quintal. Prices of finger variety increased by Rs 400 per quintal due to its quality.
At the Gobichettipalayam Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Society, finger variety fetched Rs 9,697-12,060 per quintal and root variety Rs 8,110-1,1536 per quintal.
